Through the construction
for the "Project 211", the academic capacity of Inner Mongolia
University has been obviously strengthened . Emphasis is laid upon
the two fields of Mongolian studies and Ecology & Biological Engineering
for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry for initial development. These
disciplines are more influential to the economic construction, social
progress and technical development, both in our nation and our region,
and at the same time, have promises of obtaining break-through achievements.
Following the Principle of sharing resources among complementary disciplines,
three regional level key disciplines, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical
Physics, and Inorganic Chemistry, have been established, and as a
result, the teaching facilities and conditions of these disciplines
have been greatly improved, and their overall development has also
been stimulated. Thus, an improved discipline and major system has
been created, with different disciplines Combinntions & Permeability
between , humanities and sciences, sciences and engineering , theory
and application . Five "Basic Scientific Research and Teaching
Personnel Training Bases", 3 of national level and 2 of regional
level, have been established, as well as the "National Base for
the Improvement of College Students' Cultural Qualities", headed
by our University. Three Post-doctorate working stations, one doctoral
program, 15 graduate programs, one MBA program, 9 undergraduate programs,
3 double-degree programs, and 6 supplementary undergraduate programs
have been added to the original teaching system.
The implementation of the "Project 211" has created a
more stable, better-structured and more competent faculty, with 671
professional teachers and 110 researchers working in the University
headquarter. Among all the teachers and researchers, 61 staff members
have a Doctor's degree and 355 have their Master's degree, altogether
numbering to 53.3 pre cent of the totle , while 132 staff members
are professors and 254 are associate professors, accounting to 49.4
per cent of the teaching & research staff .
Through nearly ten years of hard work, the educational scope and
quality of the University are obviously promoted . The ration of teacher
to student has been increased from 1:8.6 in 1996 to 1:12.2 in 2000,
indicating improved educational efficiency. Being an important base
in Inner Mongolia to train competent personnel of various types, Inner
Mongolia University has 9308 graduates from 1996 to 2000, cultivating
a large number of talented people for both the country and the Autonomous
Region.
