The construction and development
of teaching facilities and public service systems guarantee the carrying
out of teaching and research work in the University.
During the construction period for the "211 Project" and
the ninth "five-year plan period", the University accelerated
its pace in having the university intranet developed, and as a result,
all teaching, research and administrative units are connected through
the University intranet line. Inner Mongolia University also the crunode
in western Inner Mongolia for the education line of China.
With the completion of the second stage construction, conditions
in the university library have been much improved, and 5916 volumes
of books and 1660 item(1290 kinds) of electronic publications have
been added to the library collection, which has increased from 1.27
million volumes in 1996 to 1.36 million at present. Document retrieval
and book title inquiry can be carried out through internet because
the library is connected to the education line of China for shared
documentary resources.
Four milti-functional audio-visual classrooms and one computer assisting
laboratory have been added to the audio-visual and computer assisting
system, making the audio-visual center an important teaching center
with modern means.
The teaching facilities have also been greatly improved during the
construction period for the "211 Project": The university
gym, dormitory buildings for students, apartment buildings for staff,
second construction stage of the university library, apartment building
for international students, apartment building for young teachers,
university hospital, students' canteen, covering an construction area
of 108 thousand square meters in total, have been completed in the
University headquarter. Thus, the total construction area of the University
headquarter increased from 208 thousand square meters in 1996 to 289
thousand square meters at present, almost being twice the 154 thousand
square meters in 1993 before construction for the "211 Project"
began. With much attention paid to campus environment, a garden-like
campus has begun to take shape As the College of Arts and College
for Professional Training incorporates into Inner Mongolia University,
there appears a larger space for development in the new century, which
has laid a good foundation for the further construction and development
for the "211 Project" and in the tenth "five-year plan
period".
